Shaft Fitting and Retro Fitting in Bedford
The shaft is the engine of the golf club.
It's also the part of the club almost nobody thinks about until something feels wrong. Most off-the-rack drivers come with a stock shaft that was chosen for cost and supply, not for the player who eventually buys the club.
Most of the drivers we test on the launch monitor are losing distance and accuracy to a shaft that doesn't suit the swing using it.Retro fitting is the process of upgrading the shaft in a club you already own. It costs a fraction of a new driver or iron set, and the performance gains are often the same.
When it makes sense
If your current club head is still recent (within the last two or three years) and you like the look of it, but the ball flight isn't what you expected when you bought it, retro fitting is usually the answer. Same if your swing has changed in the last few years through coaching, age or injury, or if you bought your driver off the rack without any fitting at all.
Our shaft inventory
For drivers and woods we carry Project X, Fujikura Ventus, Mitsubishi Tensei and Diamana, Graphite Design Tour AD, Accra and UST Mamiya. For irons, KBS, True Temper Dynamic Gold, Project X LZ, Nippon Modus and UST Recoil graphite. Anything else can be ordered in for a session.
How it works
Around 45 to 60 minutes. We baseline your current shaft first so we have data to compare against, then test alternative shafts in the same head. By the end you'll see side-by-side numbers showing which shaft is genuinely better and by how much.
Cost
£90.00 per session
Cost of the shaft and installation depends on which shaft you choose, but most upgrades come in between £150 and £400 per club for a tour-level shaft fully installed.
